In addition to the world-renown wines produced in the valley, the town of Napa is known for its booming culinary scene, home to many upscale restaurants and casual cafés all serving fresh California cuisine. We love the one-stop-shop of the Oxbow Public Market, a 40,000 square foot market overlooking the Napa River. It’s the perfect place to stock up for a picnic to take on a wine-filled adventure or to stop for a leisurely meal while exploring downtown Napa. You can easily walk to the market from White House, and here are a few of favorite vendors to check out once you arrive:
Head to Hog Island Oyster Co. for some fresh and local seafood at lunch or some oysters and a beer at happy hour. While we love slurping oysters on the half shell, their signature chipotle bourbon butter grilled oysters are not to be missed. A menu of salads, seafood stews, and an oyster po’boys is complemented by an approachable wine list.
Fans of Neapolitan pizza won’t want to miss Ca’Momi where the crackly crusted pizza is baked in a certified wood-fired oven. Try the radicchio and speck topped pizza — we love the combination of the bitter greens and the salty salumi.
For that picnic, head to Hudson Greens & Goods, where you can fill your basket with fruit, crackers, and sparkling water. The Fatted Calf has all the charcuterie you’ll ever want, and Oxbow Cheese & Wine Merchant for a fantastic selection of cheese from California dairies and international makers. And don’t pass up a cupcake from Kara’s Cupcakes on your way out — try a Sweet S’mores or a Fleur de Sel.
